Leading theorists in the field of cognitive development: Piaget and Vygotsky.

This course examines contemporary theory and research on the development of intellectual processes from infancy through adolescence. It compares cognitive-developmental theories and research to psychometric, information-processing, and other approaches.  The final project, the metahobby project, fosters the student's ability to think theoretically and apply good theory in professional and personal ways.

This child development course aims to explore several of the major points of view currently influential in the field of cognitive development. It also examines implications of these various perspectives for the education and socialization of children.  The emphasis is on theory in the conceptualization of intellectual change processes.
