1. Sustainable Agriculture Class 10

1.1. Overarching exercise and presentations

Overarching exercise: Connecting with community (incl. cultural barriers) - Rosalind Shaw

Mini lecture:  Formulating and grounding solutions - communicating solutions to stakeholders - Robyn Alders

1.2. Class Activity

  • Revise VUE map

  • Identify stakeholders (from ejournal assignment)

  • Plan for the field trip.  This is an opportunity to:

    • to see a conventional and organic farm operation, side-by-side

    • to interview the herdsman and other workers about the health issues they have uncovered

    • to ask questions specific to NE farming that appeared to be deficient in the literature

  • Revise Draft Glossary

  • Revise Disciplinary Gaps and Research questions

1.3. Assignments

Assignments due next week (preparation for field trip):

1.3.1. General:

Review the Gaps and Research Questions document linked on the class 10 page and on the main Agriculture page.  Think about the questions already listed, edit and add new questions that you think should be addressed at the farm visit. Please initial your entries. Please upload your final comments so they can be forwarded to the herdsmen ahead of our visit.

Continue to work on the Map as a group - suggest creating a to do list to make sure everything gets done for the final product.

1.3.2. eJournal assignment:

See above - no specific assignment for the eJournal.  BUT work on Gaps and research questions PLUS contribute to discussions!
