1. Project: Architectural Modeling

1.1. Format

3- 640 x 512 pixel JPEG image files AND your Blender (.blend) file

1.2. Process

The object of this project is to create a 3D model of an existing building, structure, bridge or monument somewhere in the world. I am not looking for an exact reproduction in every detail but rather a good approximation of the structure’s size, shape and appearance. The model must contain textures (either UV or regularly mapped). The model must also be placed in some sort of environment that reflects (to some extent) the structure’s actual surrounding.

You might want to find your building or structure in Google Earth and get a screen shot that will give you a good idea of the structure’s dimensional “footprint”. This process is described in the video tutorials. Use this footprint image as a background image (in top view) to get the real length and width of the structure. You can turn off the background image when no longer needed. You might also want to find images of the structure on the Internet to use as a guide for the size, shape and texturing of the structure.

1.3. Project Files

This project requires files:

The first 3 files are 640 x 512 pixel JPG image files. These files should present your modeling from various viewpoints to show off the model at best advantage or lighting. The fourth file is your Blender file (.blend).

1.4. Student Examples
