1. Project 3: A la Crate & Barrel

1.1. Format

640 X 512 pixels JPG image file AND your Blender (.blend) file.

1.2. Objective

The object of this project is to design, model and texture a real object and to make your rendered image look as close to the real object as possible.

1.3. Process

Sometimes..., creativity and self-expression just gets in the way of your 3D model. Sometimes..., the object is to reproduce an existing item with exactness and precision. That sometime is now.

The object of this project is to reproduce in 3D model form an ordinary household object with as much exactness and precision as possible. This can be any handheld object (example: dish, cup, spoon, fork, comb, pen). Examine the object closely, and reproduce it in 3D form. Pay special attention to detail (edges, color, texture). You MUST have the object in front of you while you model - you may not do this from memory.

Your 3D model should be as close to the original shape, color and texture as possible. Make sure you embed any textures in the .blend file (See Video Tutorial - Packaging Texture Images).

1.4. Project Files

This project requires 2 files:

The first file is a 640 x 512 pixel JPEG image file. This first image file should be an image of your object. Align your camera for the best visual effect and render the image.

The second file is your Blender file (.blend).
