| Description: | Compare the size and staining property of the Purkinje fibers with those of the regular cardic muscle fibers. The Purkinje fibers stain lighter because there was quite a bit of glycogen in the cytoplasm which has been removed during tissue processing. The sparse connective tissue between the cells stained blue. Note the endocardium with slightly more connective tissue beneath the endothelium. Original mag. 25x Masson trichrome. Purkinje fibers.
