This is a slightly lager picture of the intrapulmonary bronchus. Notice the mucous film in the lumen. This is part of the mucociliary clearance system which traps dirt particles and germs, and clear them out of the system. Although submucosal glands are present, they are hard to make out at this magnification. Note the prominent muscularis mucosae and the cartilage islands. PK1570. Original mag. 16x. H&E.
