Rodents: Mycoplasma pulmonis
Description:The upper slide shows an entire rat lung cut in half longitudinally.  The lung lobe at the top is more normal, but there is BALT hyperplasia evident in the histopathology slide of the same lung in the lower slide.  The lower lung in both slides is consolidated (more solid looking) with dilated airways (bronchiectasis).  This change reflects the chronic nature of mycoplasmal infection.
