Mycoplasma Attach to Cilia
Description:Mycoplasma are primitive organisms that lack a cell wall and attach to host cilia to obtain sterols from the cell membrane.  They remain on the luminal surface and do not penetrate into the epithelial cells.  Mycoplasma infections are often chronic, compromising mucociliary clearance and  predisposing to secondary bacterial infections.  Histopathologically, Mycoplasmal infections are often characterized by BALT hyperplasia
