This slide shows the fluid obtained from transtracheal aspiration f(TTA) rom a horse with pneumonia. The fluid is obtained using sterile technique and can be used for culture. Differential cell counts on cytology samples from are useful, but quantitavie cell counts cannot be done, because fluid is introduced into the airways to obtain the sample.
