Description:Section of lymph node through cortex showing an artificial separation of the tissue across this specimen from upper left to lower right. This artifact most likely is a tear that was caused in preparation when the section were spread out on the slide. However, when these separations are widespread throughout a specimen and extend in several directions, they can also be cracks in the tissue caused by too hard a specimen (usually overly dehydrated) striking the microtome knife during sectioning.
