O1os-2:Osmicated Lipids
| PREV : O1os-1:Osmicated Lipids |
| Stain: | Osmium tetroxide |
| Description: | Section of immature testis at low magnification showing a region at periphery of organ. Seminiferous cords with interstitial nests of osmiophilic Leydig cells are seen at upper right of field. Extending from upper left to lower right is the fibrous testicular capsule (tunica albuginea), which also contains a few nests of Leydig cells. On the outer surface of the capsule (at left), several unilocular adipocytes with their singular lipid inclusions are also stained with osmium. Note the difference between the two types of lipid inclusions shown in this slide: in Leydig cells, they are small and numerous; in unilocular adipose cells, they are large and singular.
